Prime Minister Narendra Modi divested Smriti Irani of her portfolio of Information and Broadcasting Minister and elevated Junior Minister Raghavendra Singh Rathore to the post. He is now the new Minister of State with independent charge of the Ministry.
Ms Irani helmed the Ministry for fewer than 10 months and was controversial from the start. The government was fed up with the constant controversies generated by her and therefore she was divested of her post.
