Clothing brand Zara will very soon launch a service where shoppers will be able to embroider names in denim, this trend will first begin in Europe before its oreads to many outlets across the globe. Customization has been a trend mainly in Nike and Levis where shoppers are able to create their own jeans or design their sneakers in store.

Sneakers and jeans makers like Adidas, Nike and Levi’s have been offering customization for several years, where customers can add their own modifications to clothes and shoes. Although it’s considered a hot trend, it hasn’t brought much revenue so far.

BoF-McKinsey Global Fashion survey had identified customization as the number one trend last year. Customization ranges from smaller adaptations such as embroidery instore to products designed almost totally by the customer like Adidas’s ‘Knit for You’ pop-up stores that create bespoke sweaters in a matter of hours.
