The Opposition’s presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha will be filing his nomination today. Leaders like Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Mallikarjun Kharge and Jairam Ramesh will accompany the 84 year old Sinha. As he files his nomination papers.
Yashwant Sinha is a former Union Minister and was chosen as the consensus candidate from the joint opposition for the upcoming Presidential elections to be held on July 18.
Sinha said that a ”rubber-stamp president” will not work in the country and he thanked all the political parties who gave him the opportunity to contest the election. Sinha joined TMC last year and was made the vice-president of the party. He quit the BJP in 2018.
Meanwhile the other Presidential candidate backed by the BJP, Droupadi Murmu filed her nomination on June 25 in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and other top BJP leaders.
