The first group of  four women to join the French nuclear powered fleet had their traditional baptism. They had to drink a bowl of sea water followed by a glass of champagne. France is the third country to bring women on board it’s nuclear powered subs which operate much longer and isolated missions than the traditional vessels after U.S. and  Britain.

Officials hope that these four women will be an inspiration for others to join them. Women make up 15  percent of the Navy ranks and are considered to be an asset said the Captain and Commander of the nuclear powered fleet. He said that the women had earned their place on board just like any other sailor.
