Sneha grew up in a family that believed neither in caste nor religion. Her parents always left the caste and religion columns blank in all the application forms. Her long drawn battle to get herself officially certified as belonging to no caste and no religion came to an end.
The 35 year old Advocate and resident of Tirupattur won the battle on February 5th when she received the certificate from the Tirupattur Tehsildar TS satyamurthy declaring that she had no caste and no religion. This is a step towards social change. Sneha’s husband K Parthiba Raja a Tamil Professor is also following the same precedent and he also left the caste and religion columns blank in the application forms for his three daughters.
