March 12th is observed as World Kidney Day every year. It has been detected that women are the highest kidney donors in the world. In most families, either mother or sister have donated their kidney. They have volunteered to donate to donate even without any hesitation when any of their family member has been affected. However this has gone unrecognized.
Doctors have stressed the need for these silent donors to be appreciated. Live donors have changed the lives of the recipients. It has been found that people who suffer from chronic diabetes have to take utmost care of their kidneys. Care for the kidneys especially after the age of 40 is very important as doctors consider that an aging body has a reduction in the functioning of the organ.
