26 year old Lieutenant Commander Bhavana Kasturi an officer of the Indian Army will make history as she is to lead a contingent of 144 male personnel on January 26th the Republic Day of India.
She will be the first woman do so. She was delighted and said that it was a moment of pride and glory for her. Bhavana completed her course in MSc microbiology but serving in the Indian Army always remained her passion. She joined the army service in September 2016 and was initially posted in Kargil. She had to endure rigorous training of 6 months for the Republic Day parade practice. She is married to captain Dheeraj a medical officer from Chandigarh. She has struck up a perfect balance between professional and personal life.
