Flight Lieutenant Har Raj Kaur Boparai, the first and only woman Indian Air Force pilot of the heavy-lift transport aircraft C-17, Globemaster took part in Operation Kaveri and brought back many Indians from the strife-torn Sudan.
The C-17 Globemaster is the largest aircraft asset of the Indian Air Force. Flt Lt Har Raj Kaur flew the aircraft from Hindon Air base in Ghaziabad to Jeddah and from Jeddah to Mumbai carrying 246 evacuees. The first batch of 360 Indians arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar shared images of the evacuees after they landed in Mumbai on Thursday. So far, the total number of Indians who have been brought home from Sudan totals to 606.
India is trying to rescue more of its citizens from the strife-torn African nation -Sudan which has been witnessing deadly fighting between the country’s army and a paramilitary group that left around 400 people dead.
