A bank in Odisha had refused to release pension for a 100 year old woman without physical verification. Therefore her daughter who is quite old herself was constrained to drag the 100 year old mother on her cot in the scorching heat and take her to the bank. This incident took place in Nuapada district about 433 kms from Bhubaneswar.
A lot of outrage was poured out on social media after images of this sad scene was shared. A BJP legislator has asked the State Government to look into this issue and he has been severely criticized for passing the buck without acting on it himself. This incident has brought to light the pathetic state of the poor people in the country and the difficulties they face even during this crucial period.
