Actor Will Smith has been awarded a 10 year ban from attending the Oscars. He will also not be permitted to attend any other events held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the next 10 years.
However, his best actor award for ”King Richard” was not revoked. There was also no mention of future Oscar nominations.
There was a meeting convened by the Academy to discuss the action to be taken against Will Smith due to his unacceptable behavior on stage. Action is being taken to protect the safety of performers and guests and restore trust in the Academy.
Traditionally, the best actor Oscar winner is invited to present the following year’s best actress award. Will Smith will be denied this opportunity too.
