Widow to get pension after 45 years

Kathayee Ammal the widow of a freedom fighter has been fighting tooth and nail to get her pension for the past 45 years. It was the High Court which came to her rescue and directed the Union Government to sanction her Central Freedom Fighters Family Pension from 1973 the date of her application.

The Court directed the arrears to be paid and pension is to be continued till her lifetime. The petitioner’s husband Lakshmanan Thevar was an ex- Indian National Army personnel who joined the the INA under the leadership of Subash Chandra Bose in Malaysia.
