Actor Vijay Sethupathi inaugurated photo exhibition from photobook “iPhonegraphy by Surya Chidambaram” at Lalit Kala Akademi.
Surya Chidambaram is a 24 year old budding photographer who decided to travel the world & capture its dimensions through the lens of his iPhone. “Photos help me put my thoughts across better than words ever have. Every photo I take has a story to it and manages to lock up the emotions of that story within a single image” says, Surya Chidambaram. He tells us about photography has always been his passion but has stepped into the limelight only recently.
The idea of iPhone photography challenges the stereotyped image of “photography” being pictures taken by someone with a big camera and an ever bigger lens. It is a new, fresh idea of capturing moments at your convenience. It breaks down the “rules” set for Photography and shows people that photography is all about the moment, the talent and the capture’s point of view. It’s about the skill and passion, not the brand or size of the instrument.
The book contains the tiniest glimpse of the world through Surya’s eyes. This is just the first of Surya’s “World Series “and he assures us that there is a lot more to come.
