Sikri won the National Film Award thrice for her performances
Surekha Sikri became a prominent household name with the soap opera Balika Vadhu. She was a an actor par excellence and she won three National Film awards during her career for Tamas, Mammo and Badhaai Ho. She won much critical acclaim for her performance in Badhaai Ho. Many prominent personalities took to social media to condole her passing.
The 75 year old theatre and film actor passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Priyanka Chopra wrote, “An actor par excellence and a woman who was ahead of her time. SurekhaSikri Ji has inspired generations of actors and her legacy will forever be celebrated. My condolences to the family.” Amul paid tribute by posting a black and white cartoon of the actress.
