The actor passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram
Nedumudi Venu has acted in over 500 films in both Malayalam and Tamil and is considered as one of the legends in Malayalam Cinema. It came as a shock to fans and co actors in the industry to hear about the demise of the veteran who had won two National awards and a special mention apart from six state film awards. He passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram owing to post complications arising of Covid, he was 73. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the loss of the actor by tweeting, “Shri Nedumudi Venu was a versatile actor, who could fill life into diverse roles across many genres. He was also a prolific writer and was passionate about theatre. His passing away is a loss to the world of films and culture. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
He started his career as a journalist and later took the theatre by storm. He acting career spanned over 40 years. Actor, producer and Director Prithviraj Sukumaran tweeted saying, “Farewell Venu uncle! Your body of work and your expertise over the craft will forever be research material for generations to come! Rest in peace legend”. Superstar and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar took to her social media page to write, “Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of a great legendary actor #NedumudiVenu Sir. Not only was he a great actor but also a wonderful human being. Had the honor of my husband directing him in one of his films. Will miss him. May his soul rest in peace. #RIP.”
