Adventurous, jovial and versatile, meet Simonna Sancia, a student of St. Josephs, Presentation Convent, Perambur. Tragedy struck early in her life when she was barely 8 years old and she lost her father due to a massive heart attack. The mantle of running the family fell on her mother Juliet Sudhakar ‘s shoulders. Juliet is an English teacher in a private school. Simonna’s elder sister Suzanne has followed in her mother’s footsteps and is a teacher too but teaches Computer Science.
Simonna is making best use of this lockdown period announced due to the current coronavirus pandemic. She is unleashing her creative talent and has taken to Mandala Art and Doodle Art forms. She has done a number of sketches and some of them are displayed here. She has also done some paintings on bottles.
Besides being artistic, she is also musically inclined and plays three instruments- drums, keyboard and the violin. She sings in her parish church choir and plays the keyboard in the Methodist Church at Periyar Nagar.
Simonna has a number of cups, medals and certificates to her credit. She has won them for both sport and extra curricular activities. She excels both on the field and off it and is part of her school kho kho team and basket ball team. Her school team represented Chennai in the State level basketball competition held at Salem and won the first prize. She was recently awarded with the Nano Nagle award by her school for acting as Nano Nagle (the founder of Presentation Sisters).
Being adventurous, she loves to ride bikes and is eagerly waiting for the day when she can get her license and maybe join a bikers team too. She also enjoys going on trekking trips. She is adept in studies and desires to become a Chartered Accountant. Just like any other teenager, she is bored sitting at home and is waiting for her school to reopen to take up Commerce group in Plus one. Simonna is also a pet lover and has 2 pet dogs. One is a Labrador named Sasha and the other a country breed named Scooby.
