Ketanji Brown Jackson will be the first black woman ever to serve on the Supreme Court. The appointment of the 51 year old woman was greeted with a standing ovation on the floor of the upper chamber of Congress.
According to President Joe Biden, it was a historic moment for the nation and he sincerely felt that the milestone should have happened generations ago.
The court has nine members and once Jackson takes her seat, there will be four women. Out of the five men, four are white and one judge Clarence Thomas is African American. Jackson will be replacing the retiring liberal Justice Stephen Breyner.
Feminist protest group -Women’ s March said that they are eager to watch as Jackson continues work on the highest court in the land. They stated “we have no doubt that she will bring dignity, honor and consideration to work with her each day.”
