United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres is making an official trip to India. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this is his first visit to India since he commenced his second term in office in January this year.
His visit is for 3 days from October 18th to 20th. Guterres will pay tributes to the victims of the 26/11 terror attacks that took place at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai. He will later deliver an address at IIT Mumbai. He will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20th at the launch of the Mission LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment). The concept of LIFE was introduced by PM Modi at Glasgow in November 2021.
Gterras will pay floral tributes to the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya, visit India’s first solar-powered village in Modhera (Gujarat) and later pay a visit to the Sun Temple in Modhera before leaving India.
