Tollywood actress Trisha will be donning a real life role. She is the first actor from South India to be honoured with the status of UNICEF celebrity advocate. Trisha said that she was honoured to get this status. Her role would include supporting efforts to address problems faced by children especially girls in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
She hopes to make TamilNadu malnutrition free and open defecation free.She said that education was the magic bullet to eradicate child marriage and child labour. In the long run,if girls are educated, it will also lead to reduction of maternal and infant mortality and malnutrition. She would also address issues such as anaemia and child abuse. This announcement was made by Job Zachariah, chief of UNICEF office of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
