Due to the rise in the number of Covid 19 cases, the Tamilnadu Government is likely to extend the lockdown upto May 31st but it will be done with some more easing of norms. The health expert team recommended to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to continue the lockdown and also to increase testing to check the spread of the virus. Public transport, theatres, gyms and malls will not be allowed to operate during the extended lockdown period.
The State is considering allowing of government offices to function with 50 percent staff on alternate days with a six day week schedule. The Chief Minister has requested the Centre not to resume regular flights and train services until May 31st.
