TN CM meets PM Modi and requests for release of relief funds

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged him to release the interim relief funds of Rs 7,033 crore and the permanent relief fund of Rs 12,659 at the earliest.

He presented a memorandum to the Prime Minister in New Delhi on the 19th of December and urged him to declare Cyclone Michaung and the torrential downpour in the southern districts as national calamities.
He also briefed the Prime Minister about the widespread devastation caused in Chennai and surrounding districts. Earlier this month, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the Central team visited Chennai .
The relief amount sought by the State government would be used to carry out repairs of roads, bridges, schools, government hospitals and other public infrastructure.
