Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on the eve of Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary alleged that his legacy was being undermined by those in power.
While speaking at the launch of Shashi Tharoor’s book on Nehru titled “Nehru :The Invention of India,” she said that Nehru as India’s first Prime Minister consolidated democracy and entrenched the basic values of India’s polity. The core pillars of Nehruvianism were democratic institutional building, staunch pan- Indian securalism, socialist economics and foreign policy of non alignment. These are all integral to a vision of Indianness but unfortunately they are being challenged today.
