Sunder Ramu, an actor and a fashion photographer was born in Bengaluru in a very forward thinking family where women were treated with respect and there was no gender discrimination. He moved to Chennai for his education and studied Visual Communication in Loyola College.
This shift from Bengaluru to Chennai turned out to be a huge culture shock for him. He could see the deeply rooted gender discrimination in society. It was the Delhi gangrape that shook him and gave him sleepless nights.
It was then that he decided to do something and to create awareness in society. The idea of 365 dates struck him at that moment. He decided to meet 365 women and start to create change and awareness on women’s rights.
He announced this on December 31, 2014. His first date was a close friend. There were 3 rules for this, he would not reveal that the date was for a cause, the girl should decide the place and pay the bill for the meal. The money that he saved from the dates was used to buy food for charity.
He has so far dated 335 women from all over the world including Paris, Vietnam, France, Spain, US, Thailand, Sri Lanka and India.
