Chap Chay, the popular Asian restaurant at The Raintree, St. Mary’s Road, presents a food festival that celebrates the delicious cuisine of Thailand, in partnership with the Royal Thai Consulate-General of Chennai. Chap Chay will be hosting Chef Tarathip Nooriengsai from Bangkok as the guest chef and menu curator of this festival.
Chef Nooriengsai has worked at renowned establishments around the world, including in UAE, India and Thailand. She has over twenty years of experience in the culinary industry, and has served in positions like Head Chef, Thai Master Chef and Thai Chef de Cuisine at top restaurants and hotels. She has crafted an exclusive menu for the food festival at The Raintree, consisting of a wide range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies. The menu includes dishes such as hmung thod (a calamari starter flavoured with tamarind and chilli), tom jurd thang (a clear soup with stuffed cucumber, chicken and mushroom), fai dang (a main course of morning glory leaves in yellow bean paste sauce), intanin (a dessert made of butterfly pea and jasmine flowers in coconut milk) as well as classics such as pad thai noodles, jasmine rice and more.
Speaking on the festival, The Raintree’s Executive Director Ms. Swetha Reddy says, “Chap Chay’s eclectic Asian menu has been a favourite among the city’s diners for years, and we are delighted to present a festival that hones the focus to one particular kind of regional cuisine. It’s our pleasure to host Chef Tarathip Nooriengsai and to have her bring the magic of authentic Thai food to our patrons.”
