The tender process for the construction of memorial for former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has been postponed to the 21st of February. As per the tender notification, the approximate value of the work was Rs 43.63 crore.The last date fixed earlier was the 7th of February. Natarajan a civil work contractor filed a petition contending that the authorities had not followed the procedure laid down as per the Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tender Rules 2000.He submitted that the 30 days minimum period for the submission of the tender was not followed.
He further stated that he intended to participate in the tender and if clear 30 days time was given, he would obtain the necessary certificate and mobilise funds to participate in the same. He also alleged that the authorities did not publish the tender notification in the Indian Trade Journal and in the newspapers.
