This year marks the 70th anniversary of India’s independence as a sovereign nation. In 1947, when India gained Independence, it was from the Taj, Lord Louis Mountbatten gave his last speech as the Governor-General. Through it all, Taj’s pioneering spirit has led the development of a burgeoning hospitality industry that is based on the sincere care of Indian hospitality. Come August and the entire nation is wrapped in the vibrant spirit of the tricolour with grand celebrations for Independence Day. This Independence Day, marking the contribution that Taj has made to the nation over the past 70 years and celebrate the national Indian spirit, the luxurious Taj West End is re-creating the menu served at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai on August 14, 1947 – Independence Night – reigniting the sprit and celebrating the essence of freedom. Celebrating the authenticity of Indian cuisine, the beautifully crafted menu by Executive Chef, Sandip Narang showcases dishes featuring the rich culture of India and its heritage, taking us back into time, to experience and relive the historical moment when the announcement of India’s independence was made.
