Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been honoured with one of the country’s most eminent awards in entertainment, the Dadasaheb Phalke award for the ‘Critic’s Best Actor’ at a prestigious ceremony held recently.

Sushant began his acting career in 2008 with a TV show ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’. He then got the lead role in Zee TV’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’ opposite Ankita Lokhande. In 2013, he made his debut in Bollywood with ‘Kai Po Che’. He then went on to entertain his fans with many other roles in different films. He died a mysterious death in his apartment on the 14th of June 2020 and was last seen in the film ‘Dil Bechara’ opposite Sanjana Sanghi. The film was supposed to be released on May 8, 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus crisis. It was later released in July on Disney+ Hotstar and was streamed for free to commemorate the last movie of Sushant.
Three central agencies- the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had conducted investigations and examined the case from various angles. Though the Mumbai Police considered his death as a case of suicide, Sushant’s family had challenged it in the Patna High Court and accused his actress girlfriend Rhea Chakraborthy and her brother Showik Chakraborthy with abetment of suicide and siphoning of his assets.
