Even as the actor openly posted on her social media page about her struggle, most actors in the Malayalam industry have expressed solidarity
It has been five years since the actor was assaulted in a moving car and the whole episode was filmed on a mobile camera. After a two hour ordeal, she was dropped off at an actor director’s house in Kochi. As she had recognised one of the main perpetrators, Pulsar Suni, who had assaulted her, she gathered enough courage to file a complaint against him. Pulsar Suni or Sunil Kumar had often taken the role of a driver for many actors and so he was familiar with the industry and had driven her car on the fateful day.
Once the police launched a probe, they eventually nabbed the culprits who had alleged links to actor Dilip who is said to have abetted the crime. His motive was said to have been revenge as the victim had alerted actor Manju Warrier, who was married to Dilip at the point of his alleged relationship with Kavya Madhavan. Manju soon filed for divorce and the they parted ways after which Dilip married Kavya Madhavan. The investigation against him led to his imprisonment for 85 days after which he was released. The case against Dilip in the High Court began soon after and many twists and turns have happened in the crime story. Now more evidence seems to have emerged against Dilip who says its all a conspiracy to malign him. The case is expected to get its final verdict by February. Meanwhile the survivor made a heartfelt post on her social media handle thanking her supporters and well wishers for all the help extended to her during difficult times. Many actors like Prithviraj, Tovino, Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Rima Kallingal, Zoya Akhtar have come forward to express their solidarity.
