The Director of School Education has warned that if the teachers on strike fail to report to work on the 28th, their position would be considered vacant and temporary teachers would be posted in their places. Additionally, departmental action would also be taken against them.
Those who join work on January 28 would be able to resume duty in the same school without any departmental action. If not, a tentative vacancy list would be prepared and the government had called for temporary teachers to be appointed on a consolidated pay of Rs10000 . The teachers associated with the Joint Action Council of Tamilnadu Teachers Organisations and Government Employees Organisations had been on an indefinite strike since January 22nd pressing various demands.State-run schools were severely affected due to the strike.
