The first look of Simbu’s Eeswaran was released recently and Simbu looks in his best shape and strikes a pose with a snake resting on his shoulders. Now a video of actor Simbu handling a Cobra, during the shoot of his upcoming flick Eeswaran, has triggered a controversy. According to the Wildlife (Protection) Act, snakes are not allowed to be used as performing animals in movies. In the video, Simbu, with his new lean look, is seen capturing the snake and securing it in a gunny bag with help from two others.

A complaint has been lodged with the Forest Department by a Chennai-based animal rights activist and former member the of performing animals’ sub-committee. A separate complaint was also filed with the Animal Welfare Board of India.
