Congress President Sonia Gandhi celebrated her 73rd birthday yesterday. She was greeted by a host of dignitaries including M.K. Stalin. DMK MPs led by T.R.Baalu called on Sonia in New Delhi and greeted her There was a slight disappointment among the Congress leaders in Tamil Nadu that the DMK did not strongly condemn the arrest of P. Chidambaram.
However this seems to have disappeared after Stalin’s message to Sonia. He praised her leadership and mentioned that the Party has made important contributions to protect the secularity of the country. He wished her many more years of public service. The other DMK MPs who had gone in person along with T.R. Baalu include Kanimozhi, Dayanidhi Maran, Thamazhachi Thangapandian, and R.S. Bharathi. A free medical camp was organised in Chennai as part of Sonia’s birthday celebrations.
