Sr. Lucy Kalappurayil who rebelled against the church by demanding the expulsion of Bishop Franco for the alleged rape of a nun has written her autobiography. The book is titled “Karthavinte Namathil “which translates (in the name of Christ). She reveals her bitter experiences while at the convent, about how she was subject to sexual abuse attempts four times by certain priests.
She joined the group of nuns who protested against Bishop Franco Mulakkal and was therefore subject to alienation within her own congregation. She said that there were attempts to isolate her and even expel her after the protests. While speaking to reporters about the contents of the book, she said that it contained only the truth as it was written in the name of Christ and that she had written about her experience as a nun for 36 years. The book has many documents including letters from her superiors. It has 36 chapters and 232 pages and is published by DC Books.
