Christmas season is here once again and brings with it the spirit of caring and sharing. In keeping with this spirit, CURI Hospital (Chennai Urology and Robotics Institute) at Thoraipakkam, OMR, Chennai came up with a novel idea last year of sharing meals with the less privileged. As it turned out to be successful, they are at it again this year.
Says Gayathri Ananthakrishnan, the Managing Director of the hospital ”The idea behind this initiative is to deliver lunch and happiness. As food is so comforting, especially in this festive season, the idea is to make people feel special and involve the hospital staff in this initiative at the same time.”
All you have to do is to order your Christmas lunch with them and they will deliver it with free lunch for another family. It could be for your maid, your driver, the ironwalla or the vegetable vendor in your area. You can also order food and donate it to NGOs, orphanages, or homes for the aged or even for elderly relatives who live alone
The pandemic has taught us many valuable lessons and one of them is the value of relationships. There is no better time to make a difference in someone’s life and ring in the festive spirit, than this Christmas season.
Last year, the team did 350 meals and this year they are hoping to scale up the number. The team is also doing diet meals this year for people with diet restrictions which will be customized by their dietitian and chef.
The team comprises Chef Sathish, Partha, Somnath, Sathya Gopal, Chotan, Habil, Shantanu and Riju and they are going all out to make this initiative a grand success.
The menu is mouth watering and comprises both veg and nonveg, combos and diet meals too. You can check out the details and contact info that are given in the picture that is attached.
In the words of Washington Irving, “Christmas is the season for kindling not merely the fire of hospitality in the hall, but the genial flame of charity in the heart.”
