Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has been the savior of many during the ongoing pandemic. He has now even mortgaged eight of his properties in Juhu to raise 10 crores funds for the poor and needy. The actor has mortgaged two shops and six flats in Shiv Sagar CGHS in Juhu near the Iskcon Temple in Mumbai. The properties have been mortgaged with Standard Chartered Bank. The properties are in the joint names of Sonu Sood and his wife Sonali. They have paid a registration fee of Rs 5 lakhs. The loans raised against property would attract an interest of 12-15 percent per annum which works out costlier than a housing loan. Such loans are generally given for a 10-15 year period. Sonu will continue to receive monthly rents for the properties but will have to pay the interest and principal for the Rs10 crore loan.

The actor had earlier shot to fame for his exemplary service to the migrant stranded labourers when he offered meals and transport services to help the migrant workers to reach their hometowns. He arranged buses and trains for some of them and even organized air tickets for about 170 migrant workers. He has also done a lot of other social service to students and others besides this and was recently conferred with the Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme for all his efforts.
