Sr. Lucy Kalapura, who was dismissed from the Fransiscan Clarist Congregation for alleged non compliance with the guidelines, has filed an appeal before the Vatican against the decision to expel her. She sent an email appeal to the Vatican as well as to their representatives in New Delhi. She also sent an appeal by post.
The congregation had sent a letter to her mother with a list of allegations against Sr. Lucy saying that she did not keep up her vows of poverty, chastity and obedience many times. Sr. Lucy denied the allegations terming it as a deliberate attempt to paint her in poor light. She said that the congregation just could not throw her out as she was a high school teacher who had served in the congregation for more than 33 years. She also sought proper rehabilitation.
