Simone Biles put up a fight and finally won two medals at the Tokyo Olympics
Simone Biles had a tough time at Tokyo as she battled ‘twisties’ a mental block experienced by gymnasts and she was forced to withdraw from the team gymnastics competition as her body and mind were not in sync. She struggled with the condition but still managed to take part eventually and win the Bronze medal. “Not enough words to express how proud I am of you Simone!!!” said her coach Cecile Landi. This is her second time at the Olympics and she had won 5 medals at the Rio Olympics which included both Gold and Bronze. Fans had expected her to win Gold this time round too. Simone said that this Bronze medal is worth more than all the Golds! She said, “It’s okay sometimes to even sit out the big competitions to focus on yourself because it shows how strong of a competitor and person that you really are, rather than just battle through it….I have to focus on my mental health and not jeopardize my health and wellbeing.”
The 24 year old took to her Instagram handle to write, “not at all how I imagined or dreamed my second olympics would go but blessed to represent the usa. I’ll forever cherish this unique olympic experience. thanks everyone for the endless love and support. I’m truly grateful 🤍
– leaving Tokyo with 2 more Olympic medals to add to my collection isn’t too shabby!
