After the debacle of Vantha Rajava Than Varuven Youg Star STR aka Simbu has been roped in Mankatha director Venkat Prabhu’s next titled Maanadu. The film, produced by Suresh Kamatchi, was announced last year and was supposed to go on floors in February. Rumours had made the rounds that the film was apparently shelved, the producer however silenced the rumours and had stated that the pre-production for the film is underway. It was earlier reported that the film will go on floors in May.
Going by the latest reports, Maanadu will not commence in May as well. For undisclosed reasons, the film is getting postponed multiple times. Now, sources say that the film’s shooting could begin sometime in June. Simbu is said to have shed oodles of weight to look his part and is kicked about the script of Maanadu. It is said that the actor is learning martial arts for his role in the movie.
In an earlier interview to a Tamil magazine, director Venkat Prabhu said that the film is set the backdrop of a political gathering. It is rumoured that this will be a power-packed script with a lot of political messages told in Venkat Prabhu’s trademark style. Kalyani Priyadarshan has been roped in as the heroine to star opposite Simbu in Maanadu.
