Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has filed a defamation case against 29 media personnel and media houses in the Bombay High Court. She has accused them of false reporting and maligning of her image following the arrest of her husband Raj Kundra in a case related to creation and distribution of pornographic content.
She has requested the High Court to issue a permanent injunction restraining the defendants from making, publishing . circulating or communicating derogatory and defamatory statements. She has also sought a mandatory injunction order directing the defendants to delete defamatory articles and videos from their websites and social media platforms and also to issue an unconditional apology.
According to her, the defamatory articles and videos were published without ascertaining the veracity. She has claimed an amount of Rs 20 crore together with interest at the rate of 18 % per annum from the date of filing the suit until realisation.
Shilpa has also sought for appropriate directions requiring Facebook, YouTube and other social media platforms to remove or delete or take down the defamatory articles and videos.
