Noted Bharatanatyam exponent Shanta Dhanajayan was conferred with the title Nritya Kalanidhi at the 13th dance festival at the Music Academy. Robert G Burgess, Consul General for the United States of America, Chennai presented the award to her. While accepting the award, Ms.Dhanajayan said that her her honour was doubled as she was being felicitated for the second time.
Speaking at the occasion, N.Murali, the President of Music Academy said that Ms Dhanajayan had contributed a lot towards dance and drama productions of Kalakshetra and that she along with her husband Dhanajayan were the founders of ‘Bharata Kalanjali.’
