Gear up for a greener and more environment friendly Ganesh Chathurthi this year as The Purple Turtles presents eco-friendly Ganesha idols in association with Go Native. Seed Ganesha idols are designed to grow into a vegetable plant or flowering seeds after immersion. Once the idol is immersed in water, the seeds inside mix with soil and germinate into a plant. Seed Ganesha idols are not only ideal for worship but also make for a perfect gift for the upcoming festival. In order to create awareness about seed Ganesha, The Purple Turtles will host a 3-hour workshop on 31st August where in participants can learn how to build a seed Ganesha from scratch and take it home. While Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival celebrated with great fervour throughout the country, the immersion of Ganesha idols made of Plaster of Paris at the end of the celebration causes irreversible damage the ecosystem of lakes and water bodies. In the light of this situation, the impetus for eco-friendly practices and the importance of using environmentally friendly materials can hardly be over emphasised. This festival, do your bit to save environment by bringing home an idol of green Ganesha which is made of red soil, organic fertilizer and seeds.
