The Supreme Court refused an early hearing petition of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on corruption charges linked to the alleged liquor policy scam.
The Supreme Court gave the Enforcement Directorate time till April 27th to file a counter to the petition filed by the Delhi Chief Minister. This is a blow to Kejriwal and he will not be able to campaign for his Aam Aadmi Party.
Last week, the Delhi High Court rejected the petition for early hearing after the Enforcement Directorate had submitted enough material to show that the Chief Minister was involved in forming the now scrapped liquor policy and demanding bribes of Rs 100 crore.
The Supreme Court wanted to know why the ED had failed to recover any of the alleged bribe money so far.
