Numerous events were conducted in different parts of the State to observe World Environment Day on the 5th of June. Tamil actor and comedian, Vivek inaugurated the Go Green initiative of a non governmental organisation to promote a green surrounding. He planted 10,000 saplings in Tiruvannamalai along with the public. Actor Vivek urged people to rebuild the lost green cover and stressed on the importance of trees in today’s society. He said that it is our responsibility to protect the environment and planting trees should be a part of our daily life .
He reminded the public about late President Abdul Kalam’s Green Movement where he had planted saplings in several parts of Tamilnadu years ago At the end of the event, saplings were distributed free of cost to the public. Meanwhile, many multinational companies have come forward to establish a significant difference to the environment and are trying to adopt eco friendly initiatives across all processes at a pan India level.
