Sakshi Gallery returns to its roots in Chennai with a collection of select paintings and sculptures at the city’s chic Park Hyatt. ‘Art Fest’ previews on Thursday, September 10 and will be on view till September 13, 2015, transforming the hotel’s apartment gallery into an elegant art salon.
The selection will present the breadth of art practice featuring modern, contemporary and cutting edge art from across the country. It will showcase works by celebrated moderns such as FN Souza, NS Bendre and Ram Kumar alongside important contemporaries like Ravinder Reddy, Surendran Nair, Dhruva Mistry and Rekha Rodwittiya and emerging artists like Sachin Tekade, Samanta Batra Mehta, Lekha Washington and Schon Mendes.
ArtFest endeavours to articulate diverse artistic engagements spanning the local to the universal, personal to mythical, contemporary to commercial, and quotidian to environmental to offer a comprehensive overview of contemporary art practice in India.
Speaking of the presentation, Geetha Mehra, director of Sakshi Gallery said, “As always, I am delighted to return to homebase with an electric collection of art sourced from across the country especially for my Chennai audience.
