The ‘one word tweet’ has been trending on Twitter and has even got the office of the US President Joe Biden to join in. This trend is said to have been started by an American train service provider Amtraks social media team. Amtrak’s Twitter handle posted a tweet that read ”trains”.
Just a few hours after this post by Amtrak, there were more than 20,000 retweets and nearly 1,30,000 likes. Folloing suit was the Twitter handle of the President of the United States that tweeted ”democracy”. NASA then tweeted ”universe”. The American radio organization NPR, wrote ”radio”. Later The Washington Post tweeted ”news”.
Some netizens feel that the original tweet was a mistake made by an intern at Amtrak’s social media team while others believe that it was a deliberate strategy to garner attention. Sachin Tendulkar too joined the bandwagon by tweeting ”cricket”.
