President of Russia, Vladimir Putin will receive the Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus. This was disclosed by a Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to a Russian state TV channel. He is currently waiting for all the formalities to be completed. Russia launched a voluntary vaccination programme with the Russian made Sputnik V vaccine this month and has started with the most vulnerable groups in Moscow. All people who are over the age of 60 can apply for shots of the vaccine according to the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin.
The Russian health ministry has approved of the use of the vaccine for the elderly after a separate trial. Putin who is 68 years old said that the vaccine was effective and safe and did not see any reason not to be vaccinated and was waiting for it to become available. Right from the outbreak of the coronavirus in Russia, Putin has been working remote and held meetings through videolink. One of Putin’s daughters took part in the clinical trial of the vaccine and felt well after taking it.
