Russian President Vladimir Putin has gone into self-isolation after people in his inner circle tested positive for Covid-19. Putin has been fully vaccinated with Russia’s Sputnik V and has tested negative for the virus.

He held many public engagements indoors. Russian authorities have been criticized for underplaying the pandemic and for rarely imposing measures to control the virus even though there are surging cases in the country.
Russia’s daily tally of coronavirus infections have fallen from over 20,000 to about 17,000 cases. Russia is struggling to vaccinate its citizens and so far only 32% of the population have received the first shot of the vaccine while only 27% of the people are fully vaccinated.
