Rotary Club Of Madras East Celebrates Republic Day

Rotary Club of Madras East (RCME) in association with Community College of Corporation, Alwarpet held Republic Day Celebration on 26th January 2022. The event took off with the flag hoisting ceremony by RTN S N Balasubramanian District Chairman RI Dist 3232 in the presence of Rtn Srinivasa Rao, President of Rotary Club of Madras East, Ann. Renuka Mohan Rao, Chairperson – Community College of Corporation, Alwarpet & Rtn. V R Sahit Kumar, Director – Vocational Service.

The Chennai Corporation Community College was started in the year 1999 as a joint initiative of Rotary Club of Madras East with Greater Chennai Corporation and Foundation for Vocational Training to further vocational & employment opportunities for underprivileged students.

“Today we have assembled here to celebrate the 73rd Republic Day and Rotary Club of Madras East has taken on various projects such as healthcare, education, community service, and more. Skill development is one of the most important areas which we have undertaken as a project for the students of Community College of Corporation, Alwarpet. I would like to appreciate Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru M.K.Stalin for giving us this space to set up the Community College of Corporation here at Alwarpet Chennai.” – Srinivasa Rao, (President of Rotary Club of Madras East)

A tri-party agreement was formed within 2 years from incorporation between Rotary Club of Madras East (RCME) with the Government of Tamilnadu and Hot Breads to set up Winners Bakery, which is currently the most profitable bakery in Chennai today in terms of Sales. The profitable revenue is given to the Community College of Corporation to offer courses and the latest technological equipment for students.

 “The Community College offers courses in Spoken English, Computer Software Course & Tally. It also runs a separate 1-year Paramedical Diploma Course in 5 streams in Association with Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Kauvery Hospital with practical in-hospital training. I appreciate the efforts from Rotary Club of Madras East & Winners Bakery in successfully imparting education as well as livelihood focused vocational training for underprivileged students since 1999 for 20 years now.” – Ann. The students of the Community College of Corporation presented soulful songs and dances to celebrate the monumental day. A plethora of activities was organized to infuse the spirit of unity, brotherhood, and patriotism among the students held for the 73rd Republic Day Celebration.
