Christiano Ronaldo, football superstar from Portugal and member of Juventus has climbed to the top of Instagram’s yearly rich list of celebrities who can charge the most for a sponsored post. He commands as much as USD 1.6 million to endorse a product on social media.
The 36 year old has toppled former WWE superstar and current Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson (nicknamed The Rock) for the top spot. It is for the first time that anyone other than reality, TV, film or music stars has topped this list which started in 2017.
Ronaldo was placed third in 2019 after Dwayne Johnson and Kylie Jenner. He steadily ranked within the top 5 right throughout the list’s history.
It is reported that he earns more from Instagram than from his Juventus contracts. Ronaldo has more than 300 million Instagram followers having gained more than 125 million since the beginning of the year. His total social media following is around 550 million and includes Facebook and Twitter in addition to Instagram.
The only other sportsperson in the top 10 is footballer Lionel Messi from Argentina. Messi has 224 million followers and can charge up to USD 1.1 million per post placing him in the seventh position.
