More than 82,000 people have been rescued from flooded districts in Kerala.Hundreds of volunteers and fishermen joined the armed forces, the National Disaster Response Force and the State government to rescue people.
Rescue operations started at daybreak and continued into the night. Helicopters the boats were used to rescue people stranded in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur.Food was supplied to the flood victims and they were moved to safer places. More than 3 lakh people have been shifted to 2094 relief camps. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan discussed the flood situation with Prime Minister Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and requested for larger boats and helicopters to rescue stranded citizens.
