Congress President Rahul Gandhi will be filing his nomination papers today to contest in the Waynad Lok Sabha seat at Kalpetta, the headquarter of kerala’s highland district . He will be accompanied by elder sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and senior party leaders from New Delhi as well as the top brass of the Congress in Kerala.He will get very little time just a little over a fortnight to campaign in the constituency due to the delay over naming his candidature
It was originally decided that Siddique would be the nominee but the party finally announced Mr Gandhi’s candidature on 31st of March.The Wayanad constituency has been reckoned as a safe bet for the Congress. The Congress led United Democratic Front (UDF) is keen on making the event spectacular as it hopes that the Rahul effect will radiate across all the 20 constituencies in Kerala in the election to be held on April 23rd.
