Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is on a ten day visit to the UK. He is scheduled to address the British Parliament today. According to sources, he will deliver an address in the UK Parliament in the Grand Committee Room of Westminster today to embrace social and cultural ties that bind both countries.
Rahul earlier met Indians settled in the UK and will hold private business meetings and is also scheduled to speak at the London-based think tank, Chatham House.
While addressing Cambridge University, he stated that Indian democracy is under attack and that many politicians including himself were under surveillance.
According to Rahul, there are five key aspects of the attack on India’s democracy. They are capture and control of the media and judiciary, surveillance and intimidation and coercion by federal law enforcement agencies, attack on minorities, tribals and dalits and finally shutting down of dissent.
